THE BACKGROUND
In recent years, Halloween has become a big occasion in Burger King’s calendar. Campaigns like Scariest BK, Scary Clown Night and Nightmare King have generated massive engagement, particularly amongst young guests.
THE CHALLENGE
Come up with a big, bold idea that will hack the Halloween conversation, become a part of popular culture and engage younger guests with the Burger King brand.
THE SOLUTION
We decided to create an urban legend that will haunt the minds of people every Halloween. We executed it in three parts:

Within modern society, urban legends spread even more rapidly and indefinitely - constantly adapting to retain relevance, coherence and significance.

Do You Really Know The King?

The Story
Every Halloween the King turns evil.
"In the misty night of all hallows eve, a warlock spread a lovely treat. Sprinkling terror throughout the King, tainting the whopper and all those who eat."

The Whopper will haunt you.

The Dare
Once people hear about the King turning evil for a night. A special edition Whopper will be announced that is said to curse anyone who eats it.

All thats left to do is hear from people who have been through this before. The testimonies of those who bit the cursed Whopper is all the proof you need.
